How do I prepare?
You do not need to make any additional preparation. You do not need to be sober for this blood draw.
Following parameters are determined at the impact alcohol consumption panel:
ALT
AST
GGT
MCV
Hemoglobin
Vit. B12
Uric acid
More info on these parameters:
AST, ALT and GGT are proteins that are mainly present in the liver. When the liver is damaged by alcohol consumption, among other things, these proteins will be released from the liver cells and be detectable to a higher degree in the blood. Follow-up samples after reducing or stopping alcohol can be used to monitor tissue recovery.
Chronic alcohol consumption also often causes vitamin B12 deficiency, abnormal red blood cells (Hb, MCV) and elevated uric acid, a cause of gout.
