Project Description

SLAPELESS

If you have difficulty falling asleep, waking up too early or not being able to fall back asleep, you are suffering from insomnia. Usually this is temporary in nature due to short-term periods of stress or tension at home or at work.

Through this panel examination, we can detect such things as diabetes and thyroid problems. We also gain insight into your nutritional status (vitamins) and can check for possible infection or anemia through a blood test.

How do I prepare?

The optimal time for blood collection is inthe morning after bed rest and overnight fasting. Fasting means not eating and drinking only water after 10 p.m. the night before.

Not being sober mainly affects the determination of substances resorbed from the diet as such (glucose, triglycerides, etc.). Indirectly, lipemic samples (elevated triglycerides) can technically interfere with the determinations. A number of parameters (e.g., iron, phosphate, cortisol) also show fluctuations during the day.

The Insomnia panel detects 12 important parameters in the blood:

  • Vitamin B12

  • Vitamin D

  • TSH

  • Magnesium

  • MCV, MCH, MCHC

  • Red blood cells

  • Hematocrit

  • White blood cells

  • WBC formula

  • Thrombocytes = platelets

  • HbA1c

  • C-peptide

If the symptoms have lasted for several months over several nights, this is called chronic insomnia.

This can include reduced functioning during the day, headaches, dejection, muscle tension and anxiety attacks. For persistent insomnia, a visit to the doctor helps identify possible causes, such as improper sleeping and eating habits, some medications, alcohol use, thyroid abnormalities, diabetes or nervous system disorders.

As a man, do you often have to get up at night to pee?

If so, you may be suffering from prostate problems. To detect them, you can use our panel Prostate Basic.

Many other causes of insomnia can also be detected through a blood test.

Through this panel examination, we can detect such things as diabetes and thyroid problems. We also gain insight into your nutritional status (vitamins) and can check for possible infection or anemia through a blood test.

You do not need to be sober for these tests.
Best indicate whether or not you take vitamin or dietary supplements (and which ones).
You will receive the full report after about 4 days.
