Project Description
PILOT
€ 121
As a pilot, you must have good physical preparedness.
This evaluation examines certain parameters in blood and urine.
Indeed, certain conditions put you at risk for abnormal fatigue, decreased consciousness or heart attack.
Through this panel, more than 20 parameters are measured in blood and urine.
If these are in order, you as a (candidate) pilot can pass the laboratory tests at the medical evaluation with confidence.
You must be sober for the blood draw.
How do I prepare?
The optimal time for blood collection is inthe morning after bed rest and overnight fasting. Fasting means not eating and drinking only water after 10 p.m. the night before.
Not being sober mainly affects the determination of substances resorbed from the diet as such (glucose, triglycerides, etc.). Indirectly, lipemic samples (elevated triglycerides) can technically interfere with the determinations. A number of parameters (e.g., iron, phosphate, cortisol) also show fluctuations during the day.
Depending on the type of study, midstream urine must be produced or first-voided urine:
Collection of midstream urine sample: for ordinary urinalysis
The examination requires the middle portion of the (best first morning) urine, called midstream urine.
For women:
- Beforehand, wash the pubic area with a washcloth with water:
- Spread the labia and clean with water (no soap!) or with a damp cloth (always from front to back) and dry with toilet paper.
- Keep the labia spread when urinating.
For men:
- Pull the foreskin back and clean with water(no soap!) and dry with toilet paper.
- Hold the foreskin back when urinating
- First pee a little in the toilet and then collect some urine in a clean urine jar by holding it in the urinal.
- Then close the jar tightly with the lid.
- If necessary, write your name and date of birth on the jar and store it in the refrigerator.
Collection of“first void” urine sample (for STD testing):
First void urine means first discharged urine (first void = first 10 to max. 20 ml). Patients should not have urinated in the last two hours before collection (so preferably morning urine = first urine when getting up). Only the first 20 ml should be collected. The rest of the urine is further urinated out in the toilet.
If first-void morning urine is not possible, urine may also be made on site provided no urination has occurred in the last 2 hours. This first-void urine (only the first 20 ml of the urine stream; rest back out in toilet) should be collected in a sterile urine container.
Following parameters are measured in blood and urine:
Hemoglobin (HGB).
MCV, MCH, MCHC
Red blood cells (RBC).
Hematocrit (Hct)
White blood cells (WBC).
Thrombocytes = platelets
WBC formula
Glucose (sober)
ALT
AST
GGT
Creatinine + eGFR
HbA1c
Total cholesterol
Triglycerides
HDL cholesterol
LDL cholesterol
Urine screening (stick and sediment)
A word on the importance of these tests:
Exclusion of anemia: we perform a complete analysis of hemoglobin, hematocrit, red blood cells (MCV, MCH, MCHC), platelets and white blood cell count. This is a very informative indicator of your overall health and physical bearing.
Rule out diabetes: having too much or too little sugar in your blood can negatively affect your concentration. We measure your fasting sugar level (glucose), an excellent screening of any misunderstood diabetes. We also measure glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c). HbA1c is like the memory of your sugar balance and will be disturbed in all types of diabetes, even at early and treatable stages.
Cardiovascular risk factors: blood lipids (triglycerides, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL)
Impaired liver function: (including recent alcohol consumption): ALT, AST, GGT
Good renal function: creatinine with calculated renal clearance (eGFR)
In urine: protein, blood and glucose screening for investigation of diabetes and renal function.
Therefore, if all the results in this panel are normal, you can undergo the official certification with peace of mind.
We recommend having this check up performed prior to any medical check-up.
Results are generally available within 48 h.
All tests are conducted in collaboration with doctors and specialists from AZ Delta.
You can make an appointment quickly and discreetly.
